PARTNERS FOR SAFE MOTHERHOOD
Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from Norzagaray, Bulacan attended the
RCSI-PBSP USAPAN ‘Serye Training of Trainers for Safe Motherhood
Caravan’ last September 6 and 7, 2018. The training, organized by
Philippine Business for Social Progress in partnership with Republic
Cement Services Inc., inculcated among the BHWs the importance of Safe
Motherhood and equipped them with the skills and knowledge to ensure the safety of mothers in their communities.
The Safe Motherhood Caravan is one of PBSP’s flagship programs on health, which aims to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality in the country. Through the conduct of caravan in various communities across the country, PBSP educates women of reproductive age on life-saving maternal and child health services such as pre and post-natal consultations, facility-based delivery, exclusive breastfeeding, responsible parenthood, and saving for health. The caravans also facilitate the access of women to quality health care services to help them be prepared before, during, and after pregnancy, in partnership with local government units.
