PBSP Holds Symposium at the 25th PHILCAT Convention

PBSP HOLDS SYMPOSIUM AT THE 25TH PHILCAT CONVENTION

The symposium titled "It's not about you, It's about them: The How's and Why's of Client-Centered Care" attended by mostly health care workers, encouraged the adoption of a client-centered care approach in their facilities to enhance the delivery of TB care services.

PBSP Director for Operations Elvin Uy formally launched the ACCESS TB Project. ACCESS TB or the Advancing Client-Centered Care and Expanding Sustainable Services for TB is a three-year project by PBSP that aims to reduce mortality and incidence of TB, and achieve zero catastrophic costs among families with TB patients. It strives to help the DOH-NTP in finding the missing TB cases.

DR. JOSEFINA ISIDRO-LAPENA of the UP College of Medicine discussed the methods of client-centered approach, developed by the Canadian College of Family Physicians. She pointed out that patient or client-centered care must be done in partnership with doctors and the patients to ensure that diagnosis and treatment will be delivered.
